Most people know that golf is an ideal game for business. In the fast-paced world of business in the food industry, where deals oftentimes are made over coffee, boardroom tables, and networking events, the golf course is a unique setting to effectively build dialogue and relationships.
Unlike quick meetings or formal presentations, golf allows discussions to unfold naturally. Golf is a game that is social and enjoyable, where relationships develop authentically and can lead to long-term business connections. This is why Food Shippers of America (FSA) has integrated the FSA Golf Tournament for years into its annual conference format.
This year, the FSA Golf Tournament took place on Sunday, March 2, during the 69th annual Food Shippers Conference at the J.W. Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert, CA. The resort boasts two 18-hole championship courses that are set against the towering backdrop of the scenic Santa Rosa Mountains. Both the Palm and Valley golf courses near Palm Springs were designed by acclaimed architect Ted Robinson, “King of Waterscapes.” Each golf course is a par-72 and offers multiple tee locations from 5,200 to 6,700 yards.
A special thanks goes to Golf Committee who organized the event: Chair Justin Allen, Vice President of Sales & Strategic Partnerships with Cheema Freightlines, and Patrick McDuffee, Director of Sales with of PECO Pallet.
The golf event started with an early “Golf Grab and Go Breakfast” at the Oasis Grill Pool Patio. Thanks to sponsors R.E. Garrison Trucking and Trailiner Corp. The shotgun tournament then started at 7:30a.
