Wawa, Inc., a privately held, family-owned convenience store chain has partnered with supply chain and retail planning platform RELEX Solutions to help automate manual processes. The Wawa store network offers a large fresh foodservice selection, including Wawa brands such as custom prepared hoagies, freshly brewed coffee, hot breakfast sandwiches, hand-crafted specialty beverages, a dinner menu including burgers and pizza, an assortment of soups, sides and snacks. Forbes ranks Wawa as the 22nd largest private company in America.
Wawa is launching machine learning-based forecasting and replenishment technology for fresh foods across its 1,100 convenience stores, according to a July announcement.
The Pennsylvania-based retailer is working with RELEX Solutions, an AI-driven supply chain and retail planning platform, on this special initiative. RELEX’s forecasting and replenishment systems aim to help Wawa automate manual processes and reduce spoilage, according to the announcement.
The technology should help Wawa optimize its foodservice program — the company’s most popular offering — as it continues its nationwide expansion.
